What’s the first thought that comes to your mind when we say ‘Being Sartak Majumdar’? Actually no, let us begin again, that was extremely out of context. We’re talking about the play that has left the audiences amazed in Thespo14 festival, has been shortlisted for the Kala Ghoda Festival in Mumbai. It has been receiving standing ovations and fantastic reviews for the performances at Prithvi theatre, Max Mueller Bhavan, Alliance Francaise and has been performed in Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai. The abstract play has been applauded for its usage of humour and minimal production setting.
We got talking with the team of Being Sartak Majumdar about their upcoming performance in Bangalore on 16th & 17th August in Jagriti theatre.”Being Sartak Majumdar initially began as a 5-minute monologue which was metamorphosed into a 20-minute skit, and ultimately it became a full-length play” explains Karan B Shetty, the director of the play. The play reveals how media, cinema and internet have been imbibed by us in our daily routine, how they have affected our being, conspicuously. Nirmal Joshi smiles and says “The play is a combination of comedy, suspense and drama”. He also doesn’t forget to reiterate that one should watch the play to find out more. The cast comprises of just three actors- Anil Verma, Hitesh Malukani and Nirmal Joshi, who apparently have bullied Karan B Shetty(Shetty has a different take on it).
The play is happening next weekend in Jagriti theatre. You can check out the details/find tickets on bookmyshow.
